Curious about your trees? Planning a construction project on your forested property and need an impact report? Need someone to give an honest and informed evaluation of your trees' health? Is that mushroom helping or hurting your tree?
Whatever brought you here, a sick tree, a worried neighbor, a county letter, or an escrow deadline, this page is the shortest path to an answer.
How booking works
Call or text (530) 391-6100, or send the form below, and tell me what the tree is doing. Most bookings start with a short conversation: often I can tell you from a description and a photo whether a visit is worth your money, and I will say so honestly either way. If a visit makes sense, we schedule it, I walk the tree and the site, and you get my read on the spot.
A site assessment with a written report starts at $500, and the report usually follows within a few business days: the findings, the evidence behind them, photographs, and specific next steps, written to be usable with a county reviewer, an insurer, an HOA, or a contractor. If you want my eyes on a tree without the written product, a site visit alone is $250 and covers up to an hour. Set either against the $1,500 to $4,000 a medium removal near a house typically costs, and an independent answer first is the cheap step.
What to have ready
- Photos of the tree and the specific symptom, if there is one
- The property address, or the parcel number for permit and development work
- Any deadline attached: escrow, a permit application, an insurance renewal
- What you have been told so far, especially if a tree service has already quoted a removal
I work from a home base in Placerville and cover El Dorado, Sacramento, Placer, and Amador counties. I run no removal crews and do no pruning or removal, so the answer you get is the answer the evidence supports.

“Arborist Christopher Hodge responded to my initial text promptly. He requested photos of the pine tree we were concerned about, made a preliminary analysis, and came to our property the same day to do a visual check and take measurements. His insights were helpful and encouraging, and the report he sent us was very professional and clear. I'm glad I found his website and consulted him.”
“Christopher was amazing! We are trying to save a valley oak tree in our neighbors yard and we needed an ISA certified arborist to write a report. Christopher is not just an ISA board certified arborist, but a Master ISA certified arborist at that. I think I read that there’s only about 2% of all ISA arborist that achieve this level. His knowledge really showed and even though he was not able to go onto the neighbors property to do a full tree assessment, he did everything he could from my side and spent quite a lot of time with me in my yard taking photos and going over the entire tree to evaluate its health and what needs to be done to save the tree. The report that he wrote was very detailed and thorough. Thank you Christopher!”
